Candy was was banned in stores and libraries across America when it was published. Targeted by the FBI as pornography, Candy was redeemed as “satire” in response to the media flooding the newstands by an FBI analyst reporting to J. Edgar Hoover despite its sexual descriptions and foul language. If you are a collector of banned books, this is one you want on your library shelf.
