Socrates (469-399 BCE) is among the most famous figures in world history for his contributions to ancient Greek philosophy.   He is considered the father of Western philosophy.  Socrates was part of a notorious trial which descended into mob rule. He was found guilty of “impiety and godlessness” and “corrupting the young”.
