This Epic Civil War drama focuses on the life of petulant Southern belle Scarlett O'Hara. Starting with her idyllic life on a sprawling plantation, the novel traces her survival through the tragic history of the South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, and her tangled love affairs. “Gone with the Wind” was banned by the Nazis during World War II due to its theme of survival in a time of war and occupation. For similar reasons, the former Soviet Union banned the novel for 65 years. It was banned in the United States in 1978 from the Anaheim (California) Unified High School English classes due to the behavior exhibited by Scarlett O'Hara in the book and its themes and character depictions which the school found to be offensive and problematic for contemporary audiences.  If you are a collector of banned books, this novel is an excellent addition to your library.
