1946 ANIMAL FARM George Orwell Hardcover Dust Jacket BCE

Regular price $208.00

This is a 1946 hardcover book club edition of ANIMAL FARM by George Orwell. It was published by Harcourt, Brace and Company. The dust jacket has been placed in a protective Mylar cover.  There is a bookplate on the front end page. There aren't any obvious signs of inscriptions, marginalization, or dogeared pages.

George Orwell's Animal Farm was often misunderstood and seen as being critical of all forms of socialism, rather than just Stalinist communism. The CIA funded a cartoon version in 1955. Because it was banned in Soviet-controlled territories, many first read it in pirated, 'samizdat' form. If you are a collector of banned books then this copy of Animal Farm is one you will want in your library.
