1963 CLOCKWORK ORANGE Anthony Burgess Hardcover Dust Jacket

Regular price $70.00

This is a 1963 hardcover edition of CLOCKWORK ORANGE by Anthony Burgess. It was published by W.W. Norton & Company. The dust jacket is in good condition with some wear around the edges and bumped corners. The binding is sound. There is a book plate inside the front cover and the owners name stamped on the title page.   There aren't any other obvious signs of inscriptions, marginalization, or dog-eared pages.

A Clockwork Orange has faced book banning attempts due to the sexual violence it depicts. In 1973, a bookseller in Orem, Utah was arrested for selling the novel. The author argues that if one can only perform good or only perform evil, then he is a clockwork orange—meaning that he has the appearance of an organism lovely with color and juice but is in fact only a clockwork toy to be wound up by God or the Devil. If you are a collector of banned books, this classic novel is one of you will want in your library.
