1964 CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY Roald Dahl Hardcover Mylar Dust Jacket
1964 book club edition of CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY by Roald Dahl. It is an Illustrated Hardcover with the dustjacket. The dust jacket has a piece missing and it has been placed in a protective mylar sleeve. The binding is structurally sound. There aren't any obvious signs of marginalization or dog-eared pages.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was originally banned because the depiction of the oompa loompas was seen as Politically Incorrect. Roald Dahl addressed the concern and changed the description of the oompa loompas in revised versions. The book received further crticism from a Colorado librarian who believed the book “espoused a poor philosophy of life” and said Charlie “had no tremendously positive traits, only an absence of negative ones.” if you are a collector of banned books, this is a book you will want on your library shelf.
