1968 THE BEATLES AUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY Hunter Davies First Edition B&W Photos
1968 THE BEATLES AUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY by Hunter Davies. This is a first edition published by McGraw-Hill Book Company. It is a hard cover with the band members' signatures engraved on the black cover. The title appears on the spine. There are a number of scuffs on the front and back cover. The binding is structurally sound although there is waffling to the interior pages. There is a large black and white photo section at the middle of the book. There aren't any obvious signs of inscriptions, marginalization, or dog-eared pages.
Hunter Davies' book on the Beatles was the only authorized book ever written. John Lennon later criticized the book calling it a "New York Times account." He said it was a white wash because Davies did not mention their orgies, but the author did mention drugs in the book. All the Beatles were married or in relationships, so Davies did not want to write about the groupies. If you are a collector of banned books, this is one you want on your shelf.
