1978 THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD Zora Neale Hurston Vintage Paperback

Regular price $18.00

Initially published in 1937, this is the reissue in trade paper in 1978 by University of Illinois of Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. There are minimal creases on  the edges of the spine and on the cover of the book. There is an inscription inside the front cover. There aren't any obvious marginalizations or dog-eared pages.

THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD is considered a classic of the Harlem Renaissance. It has been challenged in schools on the basis of language and sexual explicitness. Hurston moves flawlessly between two voices,  making a powerful statement about what it means to be a black woman in a white, male-dominated culture, while telling a universal love story. If you are a collector of banned books, this is one you want on your shelf.
