2001 CATCHER IN THE RYE By JD Salinger Hardcover Dust Jacket
This is a hardcover edition of JD Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. It was published by Little, Brown and Company in 1951 and appears to have been printed post 2001. There is a small amount of wear around the edges of the dust jacket. The boards are black with metallic lettering on the spine. The binding is structurally sound. There is an inscription inside the front cover. There isn't any other obvious signs of marginalization or dog eared pages.
Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger was published as a novel in 1951. The novel's protagonist Holden Caulfield has become an icon for teenage rebellion. This novel has a long history of being banned. One library banned it for violating codes on excess vulgar language, sexual scenes, moral issues, violence and the occult. When asked about the bans, Salinger once said, "Some of my best friends are children. In fact, all my best friends are children. Its almost unbearable for me to realize that my book will be kept on a shelf out of their reach." If you are a collector of banned books, this is an excellent addition for your library.
