Set Of 6 WIZARD OF OZ Vintage Inspired Painted Wooden Tiles
Set Of 6 WIZARD OF OZ Vintage Inspired Hand Painted Tiles by artist Martha Strum. Each tile measures 4 by 4 inches with rounded corners. The tiles are made of wood and the back is unfinished. The front of the tiles have been varnished and are water resistant, however they should not be placed in dishwashers, microwaves, or freezers. This set includes yellow brick road, ruby red slippers, Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and the Scarecrow tile designs. Each one is painted with acrylics and some have had metallic paint or glitter applied before a final coating of varnish.
Dorothy is one of the reasons The Wizard of Oz has been banned since its release in 1900. People objected to Dorothy being the main character in her own story. In 1928, public libraries banned the book because they felt it was "ungodly." They didn't like it “depicting women in strong leadership roles." If you are a collector of banned books, you will want these wooden tiles in your collection.
