1906 THE JUNGLE Upton Sinclair Hardcover

Regular price $425.00

This is my 1906 hardcover edition of The Jungle by Upton Sinclair, published by Doubleday, Page & Company. The boards show some rubbing and scuffing—mainly around the corners and spine—but overall, it’s in great structural condition. No noticeable inscriptions, dog-eared pages, or margin notes, either.

This book really resonates with me, especially since I was a strict vegetarian for more than half my life. While The Jungle doesn’t directly promote vegetarianism, it had a huge impact on food safety and meat consumption. The grim descriptions of the meatpacking industry led to major reforms like the Pure Food and Drug Act and the Meat Inspection Act—and it was even banned in several countries at the time for exposing the industry.

Food safety is something I take seriously. As a brand ambassador, I’ve earned certifications in food prep and alcohol service so I can confidently lead cooking demonstrations. Books like this inspire my interest in alternative diets and help me continue spreading awareness about food ethics and vegetarianism.
