1952 THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA Ernest Hemingway BCE Hardcover DJ

Regular price $120.00

This hardcover edition of "The Old Man and the Sea" by Ernest Hemingway was published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1952. It is a book club edition, impression W, and comes with a dust jacket preserved in clear archival wrap. There is staining from the front cover on the back side of the dust jacket and previous owners names have been scratched out on the front end page. Binding is sound, and pages are deckle-edged.

The main character in Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" challenges the reader to see more than an old man fishing on the ocean. The "man versus nature" theme is seen throughout the novel.  In March 2022, history and literature students at the University of the Highlands and Islands in Scotland were warned that Hemingway's classic contains 'graphic fishing scenes'. If you celebrate the Freedom to Read, this book club edition of "The Old Man and the Sea"  is a perfect addition to your library.
