Henna Tattoo - You are My Sunshine
I designed this henna tattoo while working on Clearwater Beach. The client asked for a sunflower running down her spine with the words “You are my Sunshine.” Doing henna on the spine can be a bit tricky—it’s super easy to smudge if you move your shoulders too much or go in for hugs. The best thing to do is find a chill spot to lay back in the sun or sit near a fan and let it dry undisturbed.
Henna designs stay wet for around an hour unless you speed things up with a fan. For this piece, I used jagua gel, which goes on clear and turns black as it develops. To get the best results, you’ll want to leave the gel on for at least 3 to 6 hours before washing it off. Don’t panic if the tattoo looks invisible at first—totally normal! It’ll start to darken gradually and reach full color in about 24 to 48 hours.
