"Cornelius the Fox" – Original Pastel Animal Drawing

This is an original pastel drawing I created of a curious little fox in a field of flowers—whimsical, colorful, and full of charm. The full piece measures 16x20 inches including the mat, with an 11x14 inch opening for the artwork itself.

I hand-draw animals based on photo references, and for this one, I actually combined two different images—one of the fox and one of the flowers—to create the final composition. I wanted a playful, storybook-style background to match the fox’s personality. My boyfriend insists the fox looks like a “Cornelius,” and honestly… I kind of agree!

I work on archival-quality sanded paper, which has just the right amount of grit to hold the pastel pigments. It’s also designed to last for many years without fading or degrading. The pastels I use are the kind preferred in professional advertising—super vibrant, with a high pigment load that really brings the colors to life.

The artwork is mounted on foam backing, signed, and comes with a white mat in a clear protective sleeve. The sleeve works well for temporary display until you're ready to frame it.
