Frat Boy Butterfly: Girliest Henna Ever (by Request!)
You’ll never believe the story behind this tattoo! One afternoon at Let Me Ink You, a college-aged guy walked in with a very specific (and hilarious) request. He looked me straight in the eye and said, “Give me the girliest tattoo you can come up with.” Naturally, I raised an eyebrow—but hey, I love a creative challenge. Turns out, it was part of his frat’s hazing ritual, and he needed something extra fabulous.
So, I whipped up this butterfly design using a combo of red henna paste and black jagua gel for a bold, two-tone effect. When he saw it, he lit up and said, “You hit it on the mark—it’s very girlie.” Mission accomplished.
Here’s what to expect if you choose this design: it’ll feel wet for about an hour unless you dry it with a fan. Let it sit for 3–6 hours (the longer, the better) before gently washing it off. It might look invisible at first—totally normal! The color will develop over 24 to 48 hours into a rich, long-lasting stain.
Pro tip: avoid water for the first 24 hours after removing the paste, especially since this design uses red henna. If the gel or paste starts flaking too soon, a light spritz of hairspray can help hold it in place. And if you’re heading to bed—cover it! You don’t want that butterfly fluttering onto your sheets.
