Regular price $120.00

"Travels in the Interior of North America 1832-1834" by Maximilian Prince of Weid and illustrated by Karl Bodner.  The book is an oversized (10x13.75) hardcover and has a dust jacket in very good condition. There are light erasure marks on the front end page. It was published by Taschen in 2001.

"Travels in the Interior of North America 1832-1834" is considered important because it provided one of the first detailed and visually accurate accounts of the American West, particularly the Native American tribes of the Great Plains, through the detailed observations and illustrations created by Prince Maximilian of Wied and artist Karl Bodmer during their expedition. This volume brings together all of Bodmer's  color illustrations, and adds details taken from the plates. Excerpts from Maximilian Prince of Wied's text accompany each image, providing information about the rituals, ceremonies, customs, clothes and tools of the Native Americans.
