Regular price $225.00

Bond. Is a 1958 first edition, eighth printing C, A BEAR CALLED PADDINGTON by Michael bond. I was copyright in 1958 and includes a dust jacket in very good condition. It shows minimal wear around the edges and has recently been placed in a new, clear archival sleeve for protection. The boards and binding are structurally sound, and the interior pages do not show any obvious signs of inscriptions, marginalization, or dog-eared pages.

A Bear Called Paddington is a beloved children's book that features a well-mannered bear from Peru who symbolizes compassion and human kindness.  Paddington became popular after World War II and is now considered a British icon. The author was inspired by his memories of Jewish refugee children arriving in Britain from Europe during the war. Bond also drew inspiration from a teddy bear he found alone on a shelf in a London shop on Christmas Eve 1956, which he bought as a gift for his wife. The bear had a luggage label that said, "Please look after this bear. Thank you". Bond said, "Paddington Bear was a refugee with a label".
