1944 THE MALTESE FALCON Dashiell Hammet Mystery Omnibus

Regular price $55.00

This 1944 omnibus edition of Dashiell Hammet's "The Maltese Falcon and The Glass Key" is a must-have for any collector of mystery and thriller books. The hardcover book includes a dust jacket, which is in a new protective archival sleeve. The dust jacket shows wear around the edges and hinges. Remains of clear tape placed over tears at the top of the dust jacket can be seen. There is discoloration on the back of the dust jacket and on the front cover of the book. Interior pages show tanning but are unmarked.  Published by Forum Books.

Dashiell Hammett's third novel, The Maltese Falcon (1930), set the standard by which all subsequent detective fiction would be judged. Hammett's clean prose and sharp ear for dialogue produced an exceedingly readable novel with enough twists to keep the reader turning the pages in search of clues. The novel was banned for Hammett's openly pro-communist views instead of some legitimate concerns within the pages, such as greed, murder and corruption. If you celebrate the freedom to read and collect banned books, this mystery omnibus will be a perfect addition to your library.
