Why wouldn't our wild things get psyched about the winter holidays? The evergreen is eyed with admiration and then our beloved pets will mark, jump, eat or climb it. Quite possibly, it'll even get toppled. While most people spend their time finding ways to keep pets out of their Christmas decor, my creative mother Martha Strum found a way so that your pets have a place on the Christmas tree.

“Where the Red Fern Grows” is one of the most popular children's stories ever written. Throughout the novel, we see how love, and not just loyalty, enables the boy and his dogs to persist and overcome. “Where the Red Fern Grows” has been banned for its content dealing with violence and death. Eileen, my friend who was a dog trainer, was also a licensed massage therapist and treated both new mothers and their babies. She saw in her practice that our lives, from beginning to end, resemble a complete, full circle.
Good Things Come in Thirds (Art Rules to Live By)
For the pastel painting “Mockingbird and Cypress Myrtle” I was fortunate enough to find the perfect reference photo in my friend Gary Soodak's personal collection of photography. I was able to create an endearing portrait of a mockingbird by using the Rule of Thirds and the Rule of Space to add depth, control eye flow, and impart a sense of wonder.
